Join us for an evening of documentary film and light refreshments followed by a friendly discussion on Art vs. Craft. What is the meaning of craft and how does it differ from art? What criteria determines an object’s artistic merit? Can traditionally “artisan” techniques be used to make groundbreaking works art? Meet four contemporary artists whose work in glass, clay, wood, and fiber is challenging conventional ideas about craft media through their attention to social narrative, personal biography, and poetic space.

This event is produced in collaboration with Art21, Inc., a non-profit contemporary art organization serving artists, students, teachers, and the general public worldwide.
